Dogwood Blossoms And Jesus

Dogwood blossoms and Jesus

Have you ever heard about the symbolism between dogwood blossoms and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ?  If you were to examine the flower of a dogwood tree you will see quite a few references to Jesus.  First of all, the shape of the flower itself is cross-shaped.  Secondly the edges of the petals look as if they were dipped in blood and lastly the cluster in the center of the flower looks like a crown of thorns.  Romans 1:20 says For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”  Even nature gives witness to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  If you have a dogwood tree nearby go take a look for yourself and then use it to help illustrate the Gospel message to someone this Easter season.  He is risen!
